Gant was established in 1949, when Ukranian-born Bernard Gantmacher founded a shirt-making company in New Haven, Connecticut.  The GANT business really was a family affair, with Bernard’s sons, Marty and Elliot encouraging and supporting their father’s business.  With Bernard’s talents and history as a shirt-maker combined with his son’s talents in Marketing and Business Administration, GANT went on to be a great success.  Much of GANT’s triumphs came when in the 1950s, the Ivy League look was born.  A preppy look sported by the attendees of Ivy League Universities, New Haven was the perfect place for this style to flourish; New Haven was home to many successful garment makers and also Yale University, one of the top Ivy League schools.  The look was categorised with dressing well, but not necessarily dressing up, a look that perfectly matched the GANT ethos and one which the brand pride themselves on playing their part in shaping.  However, it was when GANT shirts were stocked at the Yale University Co-op in the 60s that the look really exploded; the button-down shirts flew off the shelves and GANT sealed its place in fashion history.  GANT kids is the modern-day equivalent of the Yale look, with its cool preppy style celebrated in the form of crisp shirts, tailored chinos and smart-casual polo shirts.  And for those that prefer a more relaxed look, there are sweatshirts, shorts and t-shirts too.  GANT kids is available for boys in ages 2-16 years.
